As a church family, we are entering a special season of seeking the Lord as we embark on 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, Thursday, January 2, 2025 through Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
This is a sacred opportunity for us as a community to draw closer to God, seek His guidance, and align our hearts with His purposes. Together, we will dedicate this time to prayer, worship, and fasting, trusting that God will move powerfully in our lives, our church, and our community. Let’s come together in faith and expectation, believing for breakthroughs, restoration, and deeper intimacy with Him.
The Bible has a great deal to say about prayer and fasting and those used by God often seek Him in this way. David humbled himself with fasting (Psalm 35:13). Daniel fasted by limiting the types of food he ate (Daniel 10). Jesus Himself fasted and prayed for 40 days before inaugurating His earthly ministry (Matthew 4). The disciples fasted and prayed after the Resurrection and continued the practice throughout the formation of the early church. What Scripture has taught us is remarkably counter-cultural in our consumerist society and Jesus desires it of us as well.
We will begin our fast on Thursday, January 2, 2025 and gather together to pray that evening from 7:00 to 8:15 pm. We will also gather for prayer on the next three Wednesdays January 8, January 15 and January 22 from 7:00 to 8:15 pm in the sanctuary. (Childcare will be available downstairs for children 5 and under). We will also have prayer in the sanctuary before our Sunday Gatherings from 9:15 to 9:45 am on Sundays January 5, January 12, January 19.
