Ministry in Kenya

I’ve just returned from another great week with the students at the Kitale Campus of Kenya Ministry Training Institute (, and can say without hesitation, there is tremendous hunger and enthusiasm among them to study God’s Word. The students are so eager to learn the scriptures and apply God’s word to every aspect of their lives. It was a privilege to study together how the kingdom of God is applied to and impacts families.

I was delighted to reconnect with students I taught last year.  Some of them were preparing for graduation a week after my departure.  Seeing the spiritual growth of the returning students from one year to the next was strongly encouraging, and demonstrates the lasting influence that KMTI has on its students.

Like last year, it was my pleasure to teach alongside and travel with Pastor Bill Murphy of New Covenant Church in Starkville, Mississippi. We’ve been friends for many years and it’s always a blessing to share the teaching responsibilities and deepen our friendship. (I’m also delighted to announce that Pastor Bill will be our guest speaker at Covenant Life Church on Sunday, May 13, 2018. More details to come).

We were excited to witness the Youth Venture program at one of the local schools as they led students in prayer, games and testimony.  They presented a great object lesson highlighting the reality that Jesus’ yoke is easy and His burden is light. The Head Teacher spent time with us and expressed gratitude for the Youth Venture team and the real impact she was seeing in the lives of the students. We were privileged to meet Jeremy and Rheanna Chan, who recently moved to Kenya from Foothills Christian Church in San Diego, California. Their efforts in training and developing of the Youth Venture leaders will greatly enhance the work that’s going on throughout the country.

My trip had incredible conclusion by spending three days with Fikisha, the Boy With A Ball team in Kawangware, Kenya. This group ministers to homeless street kids and we’re privileged to support their ministry. For more information, visit their website
